Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) offers its members fun leadership development, amazing conferences, networking with members across the country, travel, and most of all, a good time.

Description of Past or Planned Activities: 

-Many Region and State contests
-Leadership training




Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) promotes personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer education, focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader to develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and vocational preparation.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Adopt a family with young children through KARE for Kids at Christmas
-Region and State meetings
-Collaborative activities with other Career Technology Student Organizations




The goal of FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through Agriculture Education.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-National State, Regional, and Area Convention
-Leadership Training
-Local Meetings during school club period
-Fundraiser in October and December
-Many Area and State contest throughout the year





The mission of HOSA is: To enhance the delivery of compassionate quality healthcare by providing opportunities for knowledge, skills and leadership development of all health occupation students, therefore helping the students to meet the needs of the healthcare community.

-Fall Leadership Conference (October/November)
-Spring State Competition (March)

-Many local community service events
--Diabetes walk
--Memory Walk
--Blood Pressure Screenings, etc.



Related Vocational Instruction, (RVI) is a program that provides support to students with specific needs enrolled in Career Technology programs additional resources and activities in order to help provide successful transition to post-secondary education and careers.

-State Leadership Conference- Jekyll Island
-Community Service Activities



Georgia SkillsUSA-VICA Construction: Develop good character and to prepare students for competition in carpentry and in automotive. Automotive: Support and promote Trade, Industrial and Technical education. To build communication with Businesses, Labor, and Government.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Clean up Maple Street from the police station south to the end of the street.
-Regional Competition in Carpentry for the last six years.
-Career Expo event, which encourages students in Construction and offers possible summer job application.



Georgia Technology Student Association (GA TSA) prepares its members to be successful leaders and responsible citizens in a technological society through leadership activities and competitive skill development.

-Tech day at GA National Fair, October 9th, 2006
-Fall Leadership Conference, Jekyll Island, GA, November 17-19, 2006
-State Competition, Perry, GA, April 19-21, 2007
-National TSA Conference, Nashville, TN, June 24-June 28, 2007



Vocational Opportunities Clubs of America (VOCA) allows our Project Success students to experience and participate in Regional and State competitions.

-District and State VOCA contests
-VOCA Leadership Conference- Jekyll Island
-Dawson Community Picnic



DCHS Beta Club is a club that recognizes student achievement and also strives to promote character, develop leadership skills, and encourage service involvement am0ong its members.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Two community service projects per year



DCHS Chamber Singers- To provide a quality performance group that represents the school in a positive way..

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-We have participated in Musicfest Orlando for the past two years. We have placed 1st in our division both years.
-We participate in all District and State Festivals and competitions.
-We also participate in Honor Chorus and All-State Chorus.



The DCHS Environmental Club is an organization dedicated to protecting the earth, its environment, and its wildlife. Monthly meetings, community service projects, and field trips are designed to explore these issues and to better get to know like-minded individuals.

-Various field trips including the Tennessee Aquarium and Okefenokee Swamp; various community service projects including fundraisers for the Dawson County Humane Society.



Fellowship With Christian Athletics

The FCA Vision:
To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.

The FCA Mission:
To present to athletes, coaches & all whom they influence the challenge & adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord, serving Him in their relationship & in the fellowship of the church.

The FCA Values:
Our relationships will demonstrate steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence.


To present athletes and coaches the challenge and adventure of reclering Jesus Christ as Savior and allow Him to be Lord of their lives.

-FCA Game Day at UGA
-FCA Winter Blast in Gatlinburg
-Bi-monthly huddle meetings at school



The FISH Club is a Christian Club that meets EVERY Friday morning in Mrs. Smith’s room (room B-4/English hall) at 7:15 a.m. Each month is a fishing cycle, each letter represents a week in the cycle:




-F- Focus Meeting
-I- Inspiration Meeting
-S- Share Meeting
-H- Hook Meeting

Future Educators of America- To encourage and support students interested in education as a career.

Interact Club
To provide opportunities for young people to work together for the betterment of the community and the world.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Each year the Interact Club participates in The Samaritan’s Purse to provide Christmas gifts to children in poor countries.
-Additionally, the Interact Club general participates in a river clean-up and planting the garden at the Dawson County Senior Center.



DCHS International Club
The DCHS International Club was formed at the request of students from various racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds who were seeking a forum to meet and interact with one another and to explore their various respective cultures and heritage, all of which play an important role in the continuing development of the melting pot we call “America”.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:


-This club will help students to celebrate and respect diversity as well as reinforce similarities held by all peace-loving individuals.
-The International Club is open to any student at DCHS who is interested in exploring various sub-cultures within America society.
-Each month, club meetings will focus on different culture and its various traditions and holidays, etc.
-Incorporate field trips that will help reinforce our monthy explorations.
-Participate in community service opportunities
-Fundraisers



Jobs for GA Graduate (JGG)- To provide Seniors with a chance to practice leadership and time management.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Installation and Initiation Ceremony (Monday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving Break)
-Members chosen to compete in the Spring Conference in March (dates vary in February and March)
-The Spring Conference (dates vary, but depend upon school calendars)



4H- To assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will help them become self directing, productive, and contributing citizens.

-DPA and many competitions
-Cloverleaf camp/Jr. Camp
-Rabies Clinic



Key Club is an international, student-led organization providing its members with opportunities to perform service, build character, and develop leadership.

-Relay for Life
-Thunder Road 5k
-Sponsor Christmas Child



National Honor Society - To maintain academic excellence, community involvement, and to achieve character.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Leadership within the school community
-Participation in various community service/outreach projects, programs, and initiatives.



Special Olympic Athletes and Partners who join in fellowship, competition, and service.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Host Area 02 Special Olympic Fall Games in September as helpers, buddies, and organizers.
-Monthly Socials (Softball and pizza, Christmas Party, bowling, and dinner, attend school sporting events) to foster friendships between S.O. Athletes and non-disabled students.
-Participates in Relay for Life as fundraisers and walkers.



Quiz Bowl - Academic Team

The purpose of Quiz Bowl is to promote academic excellence through the spirit of competition.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-5 to 6 regular season matching during September/October of the school year.
-Championship Tournament held in late October/early November of the school year.



Student Government Association at DCHS

The Student Government Association is an organization of outstanding young leaders who are committed to the ideals of education and democracy: and are charges with the responsibility of representing their fellow classmates and developing policies that will enhance the well-being of their school and student body.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Spirit Week Activities- October and March of each year
-Veteran’s Day Program- November of each year
-Alumni Basketball Game- February of each year
-Teacher Appreciation and Community Service- Monthly



Tiger Pride Bands - Provide students the opportunity to perform quality instrumental music in various settings.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-Marching Band performances at Varsity Football games
-Concert Performances
-Individual competition at District and State level



The State YMCA of GA provides programs and opportunities for the youth, which promote self-esteem, leadership skills, and moral and civic responsibilities. The Y-Club Purpose is to create, maintain, and extend throughout the home, school, and community high standards of Christian character.

Description of Past or Planned Activities:

-State YMCA Youth and Government Program “youth Assembly” is an active participant based program where students write bills, and debate in both the House and the Senate to get their bill passed to have the Youth Governor sign the bill into law. There is a Judicial component of Youth Assembly as well, where the students can participate in an appellant court situation working with both sides of the Judicial Belief.
-Christian Life Conference is our Spring Conference where the students have District and Regional opportunities for the leadership in planning and implementing this conference. This conference is the “C” in the YMCA: Christian emphasis and moral growth and development, including values, clarification, and spiritual growth.
-YTC “Youth Training Conference”- This is our Summer Leadership/Officer Training Conference. This State YMCA Conference is the kick off to the new school year with leadership opportunities and the Club level, District/Regional level and State level.
