I would like to welcome each of you to a new year of fun and fellowship as members of the Dawson County Retired Educators Association (DCREA). By joining the DCREA and the Georgia Retired Educators Association you strengthen our voice in the state legislature concerning issues that affect Teacher Retirement and State Health Benefit Plan. We hold meetings throughout the year at schools and places of interest to learn, share, and fellowship. Our first meeting will be held at Amicalola Falls State Park on Wednesday, September 15th, at 12:00. If you need a ride, please call 706-216-2404 and I will arrange for one of our members to pick you up. We will have a picnic, learn unique things about our county and its early inhabitants, and enjoy this beautiful part of our county.
I personally want to thank you for your service to our children over the past years and challenge you to continue giving of your time and talents by joining us at DCREA meetings. As a member of the DCREA, we continue our work to support teaching and learning through our scholarship program, writing contests, volunteer work, and other endeavors. I hope you will consider joining us as we continue to serve our state and community.
Meeting dates for this year:
SEPTEMBER 15, 2010- AMICALOLA FALLS STATE PARK
OCTOBER 5, 2010- at RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
DECEMBER 7, 2010- at SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER
FEBRUARY 1, 2011- at KILOUGH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
APRIL 5, 2011- at DAWSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
MAY 3, 2011- at RYAN’S STEAK HOUSE
Each meeting will begin at 12:00 noon. After lunch and fellowship a topic of interest will be shared. We will receive updates about legislation concerning education and retired educators. We will also have information about our county, health and safety, leisure activities, and interesting ways to spend our time in Dawson County. Membership grew from 20 members to 25 members last year. For only $15 a year you will be a part of a growing and influential organization that is working to insure your retirement years are the greatest years of your life. See you at the Falls,
