Dawson County High School is a comprehensive, public, rural high school with grades 9-12 and a current enrollment of 868 students. Students & Staff moved into the present (145,000 square foot) facility (situated on 60 acres) in December, 1997. New health & medical instructional facilities & 12 new classrooms (10,000 square feet) were added in August, 2004. The high school also employs a school nurse. Over 60 percent of the school's staff holds a master's degree or higher. There are 70 certified personal currently on staff at DCHS.
