Senior Graduation Sign Sales
Y-Club is selling Custom Screen Printed Yard Signs with "Congratulations Class of 2012" and your graduate's name. The 18" x 24" signs are $25 each. Order Form
Senior Graduation Pictures
Strawbridge Studios photographers will be at graduation and will take a picture of each senior receiving his/her diploma. If you would like to order these pictures, go online to www.strawbridge.net, click order online, click miscellaneous events, and enter the code 108104.
Graduation DVDs
DVD video recordings of Baccalaureate and Graduation will be on sale at graduation. The DVD for Graduation is $25 and Baccalaureate is $20. Bring this order form and payment to graduation.
Seniors:
If you received any scholarships at Honors Night, including Big Canoe, please be sure to write thank you notes to each organization. If you need help with the addresses, please see your counselor.
Attention Graduating Seniors
If you are not planning on going to college, a major tractor company in Gainesville will be interviewing on Tuesday during lunch. See Ms Fodor in the library to reserve your time slot.
Senior Group & Individual Pictures
The Senior 2012 picture was taken on April 10 on the football field. The cap and gown senior group picture will be taken on April 20. Seniors may order a group shot of either of these pictures. 8x10s are $12.00 and 10x13s are $18. Checks should be made payable to Strawbridge Studios. Order forms may be picked up in the front office or from Mrs. Hamby in E10. Online orders may be placed at www.strawbridge.net using the code 5787714. Please turn in orders to Ms. Hamby by April 24.
Students may also order individual cap and gown pictures. Package prices range from $29 to $69. Order forms may be picked up from the front office or from Mrs. Hamby in E10. Payments should be given directly to the Strawbridge photographer when the pictures are made on April 20. Online payments may be made at www.strawbridge.net using the code 5789331.
Senior Cap & Gown Payments
Cap and gown costs are $40 and may be paid during lunch April 11-13. Checks should be made to DCHS. Caps and gowns will be distributed on Monday, April 16. (Bring them back for your pictures on April 18.)
SAT/ACT Info
DCHS is now an approved SAT and ACT testing center.
*Students now have to take the ACT or SAT to attend a 2 year college, such as Gainesville, in Fall 2011.
Juniors and Seniors, it is important that you take the SAT and/or the ACT as soon as possible.

SGA Scholarship
The Student Government Scholarship Application is now available in the office. Applications are due by Monday, April 30th. Any senior may apply. Scholarships will be given to both SGA members and non SGA members.
The Upper Chattahochee River Soil and Conservation scholarship is ready in the counselors office.
The Smile scholarship is ready in the counselor's office.
The Rotary Scholarship is now available in the counselor's office. The deadline is March 29, 2012.
Styles Family Scholarship ($1,000 a year for four years). Due March 7, 2012. Applications are available in the counselor's office.
Marcus Byrd Scholarship, due March 27, 2012. Applications are available in the counselor's office.
Pam Garrett Scholarship, due March 27, 2012. Applications are available in the counselor's office.
Gracie Clair Hill Scholarship, due March 27, 2012. Applications are available in the counselor's office.
Etowah Water and Sewer Authority Scholarship, due March 28, 2012. They are planning on doing three $1,000 scholarships. One scholarship is designated for a student planning on attending a technical college. Applications are available in the counselor's office.
United Community Bank Scholarship, due March 28, 2012. Applications are available in the counselor's office.
Dawson County Woman's Club Scholarship, due March 29, 2012. Applications are available in the counselor's office.
Simon Youth Foundation has established the community scholarship to meet the financial needs of students in communities that host Simon shopping centers. Applications are in the counselor's office. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2012. Any questions, please call 1-800-573- 4180 ext 412.
The Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association awards scholarships annually in the amount of $1500, $1000, and $750 to high school seniors through an essay writing contest. The link for complete information and details is http://georgiafiresprinkler.org/contest.php
Georgia Farm Bureau has a scholarship program for high school seniors pursuing an undergraduate degree in agriculture and environmental sciences, or a related agriculture field. The applications are located in the counselor's office or at www.gfb.org. The deadline to apply is Feb. 24, 2012.
Buick Scholarship
Buick Achievers Scholarship Program- Buick offers several scholarships for students planning on majoring in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design, or business with an interest in the automotive industry. Georgia United Credit Union scholarship applications are available in the counselor's office. Students and/or parents must be a member of the credit union to apply.
American Legion

R.E.A.D.
The R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Association of Dawson County, Inc.) scholarship for $1,000 is available in the counselor's office. The deadline is Friday, March 23, 2012.
NEGA School Superintendent's Scholarship
The Northeast Georgia School Superintendent's Scholarship application is available in the counselor's office. The deadline is March 1, 2012.
PTSO Scholarship
The PTSO scholarship is available in the counselor's office. A parent and/or the student must be a member of the PTSO to apply. the deadline is April 2, 2012.
Best Buy
Best Buy is awarding up to $1.2 million in scholarships for students in grades 9-12! That's 1,200 scholarships of $1,000 each. Apply Dec. 26-Feb. 12, 2012. Students need solid grades plus community service or work experience. Apply online at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com or at www.at15.com
Young Entrepreneur Award
Young Entrepreneur s who are graduating high school seniors are eligible to receive a 2012 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award from the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation. Hester Memorial Scholarship
The Julian & Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship application is now available in the counselor's office. This scholarship is sponsored by the Community Bankers Association of Georgia. The deadline to apply is April 6, 2012.
KFC Scholars
KFC Colonel's Scholars is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify to the KFC Colonel's Scholars Program Applications are online from Dec. 1, 2011 to Feb. 3, 2012 at www.kfcscholars.org For questions, visit the website or call toll-free 1-866-KFC-7240.
Georgia Press Educational Foundation
Georgia Press Educational Foundation provides scholarships between $1,000 - $2,000 per year to qualified students studying journalism in Georgia. Vietnam Veterans
Vietnam Veterans local chapter is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a descendant of a US Military Vietnam Veteran of the Vietnam War or other War Service. Seniors, please come to the counselor's office to pick up an application.

Since 1982 the Big Canoe Chapel has awarded over 1800 scholarships totaling $1.8 million. The goal is to encourage students in Dawson and Pickens counties to continue their education beyond high school. The scholarships are available for public, private, and home-school students who have at least a 3.0 GPA and plan to become a full-time student at a college or technical school. Application forms are due to the counselor's office by noon on Feb. 24, 2012. You will need to provide three personal references, a senior profile, a student interview and a parent interview. Scholarships may be used for tuition, fees, books or any items directly related to the expenses of your first year of post-secondary school. For more information go to www.bigcanoechapel.org
FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) offers scholarships through an essay contest and award $12,500 in college scholarships. The essay must be 800-1,000 words. The deadline is November 5, 2011. Students may find more information about the scholarships and enter online at www.thefire.org/contests
