The School Counseling Department will be start several small groups for students in the next few weeks. We will be exploring topics such as:
•Dealing with family members or close friends that are deployed
•Creating and maintaining friendships
•Dealing with Grief and Loss (family members or close friend that have passed away)
•Study Skills/Test-Taking Skills
•Organizational Skills (learning ways to manage your stuff, your time and be prepared for class)
•Dealing with Cliques (handling rumors, gossip, and building positive relationships with friends)
•Handling Anger in Appropriate Ways
The groups will meet once a week for 6 to 8 weeks and will rotate throughout the student’s schedule. Arrangements will be made with the teachers for any work missed in class. If you think your child would benefit from any of these groups, please email me at ajohnston@dawson.k12.ga.us. I am happy to provide any additional information as needed. More specific information and permission slips will be mailed home once you let me know if your child will participate.
Groups are always forming! If you have an idea for what your student or other students may need, please send me that information and I will do my best to address them!
Thank you!
Mrs. Johnston
