Superintendent's Welcome

Welcome to the Dawson County School System website!  Our website is designed to give the viewer an overview of our school system. While visiting our website, our goal is for you to find the website helpful, as well as, informative.  If you have questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact us with your educational needs.

There are many options for children and youth involvement in Dawson County. We have very active extra-curricular activities in Dawson County including FFA, 4-H, Career/Tech Student Organizations, many service organizations, athletics, band, music, drama and art. I encourage parents to assist their children in exploring their interests.  This is a very important part of college and career readiness.

The Dawson County School System is committed to providing an efficient way for new families to join our school community. Families moving to Dawson County can complete all registration paperwork at our centralized registration location, which is located at the Dawson County Schools Technology Center, or online. The goal is to have a streamlined process that ensures a positive experience for new families.

This school year, our state of the art College & Career Academy will open. It is located on Perimeter Road next to Dawson County High School and will offer our students numerous opportunities for personal and educational growth.

We are nearing the end of E-SPLOST V, where Dawson County voters approved a one-cent tax to allow the school system to use the funds for building projects, including additions and renovations, land acquisition for school projects,  tablets and computers for students, bus replacement, textbooks, digital resources and other learning resources for students. Last year, we completed the final phase of our iPad initiative that provided all students in grades K-12 with an iPad for learning. This initiative is transforming the way our students learn, moving from a teacher-directed experience to a student-driven experience centered around creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.  It provides all students with equitable access to learning resources and increases engagement in classrooms. We are thankful to the citizens of Dawson County for their support of E-SPLOST V, which acknowledges that our students and their education are the heart of the community!

There are several ways to keep up with school system announcements.  Feel free to follow us on Facebook @ Dawson County School System, Twitter @DawsonSchools, or sign up to receive text message alerts via Remind.  To sign up for text message alerts please click HERE and follow the instructions.

Please let us know if we can be of any assistance. I look forward to a great 2019-2020 school year!
