Athletic programs provide vital and wholesome extra-curricular
activities in middle and high school, and all students are
encouraged to participate. Athletic programs focus on teamwork, coping with success and disappointment, and the necessity of physical
well-being. Dawson County is a member of the Georgia High School
Association (GHSA) in each of the following areas:

To participate in Georgia High School Association competitions, a student must meet the following requirements:
--be in good standing with the GHSA.
--passed at least three classes (of 4 in high school) or five (of 7 in middle school) during the previous semester.
--be "on track" for graduation.
--be in good standing with the school administration.
--attend all practices and meetings unless excused.
