Athletic programs provide vital and wholesome extra-curricular
activities in the middle and high school, and all students are
encouraged to take part. Athletic programs focus on teamwork, how to
cope with success and disappointment, and the necessity of physical
well-being. Dawson County is a member of the Georgia High School
Association in each of the following areas:

Generally, to participate in Georgia High School Association competitions, a student must meet the following requirements:
--be in good standing with the GHSA.
--must have passed at least 3 classes (of 4 in high school) or 5 classes (of 7 in middle school) during the previous semester.
--must be "on-track" for graduation.
--must be in good standing with the school administration.
--must attend all practices and meetings unless excused.
