The Dawson County School System looks forward to welcoming our teachers/staff and students back for the 2022-2023 school year. Please see our reopening plan and enhanced safety protocols below. The district will continue to use local data to inform decision-making.  The district will adjust procedures if necessary and communicate those changes as they occur. We will continue to post our daily school-level data once school begins.

DCS will continue to report positive cases to the Department of Public Health to assist with contract tracing efforts. The district will continue to keep our schools and buses clean, well maintained, and appropriately stocked with cleaning supplies.

If a student tests positive for COVID, parents/guardians must contact their school nurse.  If someone tests positive for COVID in a classroom or school-related activity, parents/guardians will receive a message from the schools'  Bright Arrow Messaging System via telephone or email.  Dawson County Schools will not issue precautionary quarantines for healthy students.

Help Sheet for Families

August 13, 2021: When we are notified of a positive COVID-19 case by a parent/guardian or the Department of Public Health, our goal is to inform you that your child was in class, on a bus, or in an extracurricular school-related group with a student or staff member with a positive case. Unlike last year, when we sent notifications to only individuals deemed to be in close contact, we are sending notices to the entire class, bus, and extracurricular groups this year. Since we are not quarantining healthy students, this process gives parents an option to make the best decisions for their families. The Department of Public Health will notify the parent/guardian of any child required to quarantine. We are monitoring the data closely and will make adjustments to our procedures as needed
